Emittance measurement of multi-species ion beam produced via two-step charge exchange process in a Li vapor cell
نویسنده
چکیده
A Li vapor cell has successfully converted a He ion beam to a He ion beam by double charge exchange reaction. Emittance of the He ion beam and that of the He beam were independently measured to study emittance growth during the passage of the charge exchange cell. Each component was seperated by electrostatic deection after passing through a beam shaping slit. The result had shown that the emittance of the He ion beam was not changed by the passage of the charge exchange cell, while the emittance of the He ion beam had increased even with the presence of focusing electric eld produced by He ions. The emittance of the He ion beam had increased up to twice as large as that of the incident He beam. The normalized emittance of the He at the beam energy of 10-20 keV, which is an optimum energy range for charge exchange efficiency, was estimated to be 0.07-0.09 mm-mrad.

Measurement of Ion Beam from Laser Ion Source for Rhic Ebis
Laser ion source (LIS) is a candidate of the primary ion source for the RHIC EBIS. LIS will provide intense charge state 1+ ions to the EBIS for further ionization. We measured plasma properties of a variety of atomic species from C to Au using the second harmonics of Nd:YAG laser (532 nm wave length, up to 0.5 J / 6 ns). Since properties of laser produced plasma is different from different spe...

Linac4 is the near future 160 MeV H- linear accelerator of the CERN presently under construction. It will replace the present Linac2 as injector of the proton accelerator complex in CERN. The Linac4 is composed of a 45 keV ion source, a Low Energy Beam Transport (LEBT), a 352.2 MHz Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ), which accelerates the beam to 3 MeV, and a Medium Energy Beam Transport (MEBT), ...

In the JLab Electron Ion Collider (JLEIC) project the traditional electron cooling technique is used to reduce the ion beam emittance at the booster ring, and to compensate the intrabeam scattering effect and maintain the ion beam emittance during collision at the collider ring. A new electron cooling process simulation program has been developed to fulfill the requirements of the JLEIC electro...

Recent advances in high-intensity laser-produced plasmas have demonstrated their potential as compact charge particle accelerators. Unlike conventional accelerators, transient quasi-static charge separation acceleration fields in laser produced plasmas are highly localized and orders of magnitude larger.
